Jordan Johnston, a Certified Public Accountant at Lowrey, Powell, Stevens, and Mangum, talks about his love of accounting and covers an overview of account reconciliation.
Marc:
So do you love what you do? Do you love the numbers thing?
Jordan:
I do. It's, it's a lot of fun. It's not boring. There's always something new and different. There are new challenges. There's a lot of problem-solving. One of the things that a former partner had taught me was "Happiness is a zero balance". So if you've got both sides of the equation worked out is zeros out. And so when you hit zero, you're reconciled. It's just a great feeling.
Marc:
My wife would not agree with that though. So her happiness is like a $50,000 balance.
Heather:
A positive balance.
Douglas:
I know exactly what he's talking about. And mine never reconciles. I couldn't imagine the emotion I would feel when it actually reconciled.
Marc:
So that's what you're talking about. It's a reconciliation.
Jordan:
Yeah, the trial balance on it when you debit.
Marc:
I didn't pass accounting.
Douglas:
I have to pay someone thousands of dollars in order for it to reconcile a hundred percent. Yeah.
